Environmental Risk Assessment Manager

In support of Novartis Business Units, including Drug Regulatory Affairs and other relevant functions, this role assists the company in assessing its materials and products for environmental hazards and risks in a scientifically sound and efficient manner. This role ensures relevant regulatory and business requirements with respect to Environmental Risk Assessments (ERAs) for Novartis materials and products are proactively identified, supervised and effectively handled.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to
Compile high quality Environmental Risk Assessments (ERA) for marketed products in support of worldwide regulatory submissions and prepare experienced input to post-submission regulatory inquiries
Assure scientific accuracy, cost-efficiency and regulatory compliance. Plan and coordinate environmental studies according to animal welfare, scientific, and regulatory state-of-the-art requirements
Monitor multiple ongoing projects and studies per agreed timelines via well-organized project management principles. Consolidate and assess the impact of available toxicology, pharmacology and physical-chemical properties for Environmental Risk Assessments
Evaluate and apply relevant computer-based prediction tools and communicate effectively internal and external environmental hazard and risk through internal hazard communication technology platforms
Support internal business functions with authoritative knowledge for other projects and programs
May coordinate relationships with external partners and expert consultants in support of execution of specific activities and tasks.
Coaching of site leadership team, peers, project teams, associates, etc.
Collaboration with key stakeholders from DRA, NIBR, GDD, NTO, ESO/Supply Chain, Procurement, Legal and other functional partners, as well as relevant project teams
What youll bring to the role:
8+ years of relevant professional experience in execution and management of environmental studies and regulatory environmental risk assessments, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
Solid understanding and experience in ecotoxicology, environmental fate and physical-chemical property studies according to Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)
Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) requirements knowledge and experience with Quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) modelling and other computer-based prediction tools
Experience with product classification as relevant to environmental topics, including primary and secondary data acquisition, analysis and management Safety Data Sheet (SDS) generation, storage, distribution, and maintenance Material / product study management
Proven ability to influence without authority and operate in a highly matrixed environment. Proficient knowledge of English
